Summer lunch program feeding community’s hungry kids
The summer feeding program in Alma/Bacon County is distributing 55 breakfasts and lunches to our community's kids every week through mid-July. Summer feeding program will begin May 28
Thanks to the Ware County School Nutrition Program and the Bacon County Public Library, hungry children in the community will have a free lunch available this summer. It's the first time in several years Bacon County has been able to have such a program. Sack lunches will be available Monday - Friday in the community meeting room at the library from May 28 through July 18.
Bacon Family Connection coordinator attends regional retreat
BCFC Coordinator Laura Crozier recently attended a GaFCP Region 12 retreat in Townsend. Hosted by Region 12 Regional Manager Lisa Brewer, the event included a session with a state legislator, lunch, and a boat trip on the Julienton River.
Community supports Fifth Street Food Pantry
Our shelves are filling up again at the Fifth Street Food Pantry! This is thanks to donations of canned goods and other staple items donated by the people of Bacon County and collected by Sarah Hutchinson, the Bacon County Senior Center, and the Alma Post Office. We hope to be able to reopen the food pantry the first week of June. Alma Fellowship Church also donated canned openers to the pantry. Thank you to all who gave so generously!
